FEATURES OF DIAMOND GRINDING WHEELS:

  • They are circular wheels composed of a seamless steel ring that is plated with diamond grits on the peripheral surface and light-weight bakelite hub on the inside.
  • They feature a uniform electroplated diamond coating on the surface.
  • Our diamond grinding wheels are produced using the highest grade RVD diamonds to give you precise grinding operation.
  • The embedded diamonds on the surface provide toughness and coarseness to the diamond wheels making them ideal for grinding rocks into gemstones.
  • They feature a standard arbor size of 1”. However, the wheels are supplied with bushings or reducers that can adapt to ½”, ⅝” or ¾” shaft.
  • They’re available in two different sizes 8” and 6” diameter, depending on the type of your machine.
  • The wheels are available in varying grinding surface width or thickness categories from 1”, 1½”, to 2” wide.
  • The 6 X 1/2” and 6” X 1½” wheels come in an all-steel body.
  • The wheels feature abrasive from the coarsest #20 grit to the finest #600 grit level for providing the required coarseness to the gemstone.
  • They provide the best results with water as a lubricator. It ensures a finer surface of the wheel and allows cooled sharpening, during the cutting process of the gemstone.

ADVANTAGES OVER OTHER LAPIDARY WHEELS:

  • The quality of lapidary diamond wheels conforms to the grinding and polishing needs for gemstones, which provides efficient and effective results.
  • Our abrasive diamond wheels are priced aggressively and usually last more than other wheels available in the market that, in some cases, are priced more than double, as per the feedback from our customers. As a result, the processing cost of gemstones is significantly reduced.
  • The structure of our diamond grinding wheels includes light-weight plastic (bakelite) hubs that reduce vibration on higher RPM. This allows you to work continuously and uninterrupted.
  • Diamond wheels have higher thermal conductivity compared to conventional lapidary grinding wheels.
  • Proper usage of these diamond wheels eliminates the possibility of exposing the gemstone to flat spots, scratches, or sharp edges.
  • In contrast to conventional lapidary grinding wheels, these super-abrasive diamond wheels have high-quality wear resistance to abrasion and do not wear away or deteriorate faster.
  • You will be relieved of the hustle of dressing grinding wheels to maintain a flat grinding surface, as they do not require any.
  • Throughout the grinding/cabbing process, the wheels run smoothly and deliver a true-running surface.
  • They are not impacted by external factors such as weather.
  • Owing to the advantage that they have extreme power of retaining grains during grinding, these diamond grinding wheels have a prolonged lifetime.
  • The sharpness of the abrasive wheels ensures a high stock material removal rate, thereby reducing the number of cycles for fine cutting and grinding.
  • They extend precise and ultra-edge cutting advantage to the process of grinding and polishing the gemstones while increasing your productivity.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND FOR DIAMOND WHEELS:

  • Lower grit diamond wheels are more aggressive and offer a high removal rate while cutting or grinding your stone. They are usually preferred when you want to cut your stones rapidly. On the other hand, finer grits are preferred for precise cutting and grinding process. We advise selecting the right grit size based on how expensive the stone is and how fast you want to grind. For expensive stones, we suggest selecting a finer grit to avoid excessive wastage.
  • Our diamond wheels generally fall under the more “aggressive” side. So, when in doubt between two grit sizes, we would advise you to go for the finer option.
  • These diamond wheels are usually installed vertically on a shaft in a lapidary machine. For accurate and balanced running, please ensure that the shaft runs true and there is no wobbling.
  • The spindle speed of the wheels should be ideally between 1500 - 3000 RPM.
  • As the wheel grinds through the stone, a liquid lubricator such as water or oil is used to remove the chips of the gemstone being cut. Water also works to prevent the stone and wheel from overheating.
