FEATURES OF DIAMOND SAW BLADE:

  • Diamond grits are pressed into the periphery of the steel cutting blade such that small notches are formed along the edge of the rim. These diamond particles on the notch rimmed blade work to cut rocks.
  • The diamonds are oriented inside the matrix of the steel diamond saw blade with precision and care so that the blade provides optimum results.
  • It is made with a high-grade steel core that provides toughness to the diamond saw cutting blade.
  • The diamond saw blade can be used to cut or trim rocks that are hard as well as soft such as garnet, emerald, ruby, agate, jade, geode.
  • It works best with water and oil as a lubricant while cutting or grinding gemstones. But if you wish to avoid imparting oiliness or greasiness to the material, it is advised to use water. Nevertheless, both work to prevent overheating of the diamond saw blade while cutting.
  • It is manufactured carefully to ensure that it is mounted perfectly flat and parallel to the surface to avoid wobbling or vibration of the cutting blade.
  • These notched rim diamond saw blades are available in a range of diameters (4”, 5”, 6”, 8”), thickness (0.20mm, 0.25mm, 0.30mm, 0.35mm, 0.5mm) and arbor sizes(½”, ⅝”, 1”, 20 mm, 30 mm) according to your saw machine and lapidary needs.
  • You also have the added advantage of getting these diamond blades made in desired specific dimensions (mm or inches). Contact us about this.

ADVANTAGES OVER OTHER DIAMOND CUTTING BLADE:

  • Notch rimmed diamond saw blade is the most economical diamond blade that is ideal for any lapidary artist.
  • The advanced technology of the diamond blade allows every diamond compound to participate fully in cutting. This cutting blade provides an uninterrupted surface for a smooth and effective cutting process.
  • It provides the most efficient results as thin diamond blades cause minimal wastage of rock while cutting. Hence, it is useful for expensive and valuable rocks. Also, check out our super-thin blades for bare minimum wastage.
  • Our diamond saw blades are popularly known for their aggressive and fast cutting and grinding capabilities of any type of rocks.
  • It has a stiff core blade that delivers rigidity to the blade. This ensures that rigidity and roundness of the diamond blade are not compromised for long term usage.
  • It provides consistent results throughout the process of grinding and trimming gemstones and rocks.
  • Its layered quality requires minimal dressing of the cutting blade. As diamonds wear away, it exposes a new layer of diamonds for continuous results.
  • Using this diamond saw blade properly will ensure the least deformation of the material being cut.
  • In order to ensure that the diamond saw blade lasts longer and does not wear away fast, the hardness of the material being cut needs to be chosen accordingly.

SPECIFICATIONS (Standard size):

  • Diameter: 4", 5”, 6”, 8”
  • Arbor hole: 5/8", ½”, 1”
  • Thickness: 0.20 mm, 0.25 mm, 0.30 mm, 0.35 mm, 0.5mm
  • Compound: Diamond Abrasive

USER GUIDE FOR DIAMOND BLADE:

  • Before beginning with the lapidary operation, do keep in mind to ensure that the arrow on the diamond blade points in the same direction as that of shaft rotation.
  • The cutting blade should be run at an adequate speed which would vary according to the type of material being cut, and equipment being used.
  • We recommend that RPM for soft stones should be ideally more and for hard rocks, it should be at a lesser speed.
  • Thinner diamond saw blades are quintessential for high-value stones so that stock removal of material while cutting is reduced.
  • Water or oil should be used as a coolant on the diamond cutting blade. It reduces overheating of the blade. Moreover, constant flow of lubricator in the right quantity helps improve the efficiency of blade yielding finished surfaces of stones.
  • You must ensure that diamond blades are cleaned after usage, removing water from its surface. If it is exposed to stagnant water for a long time, it may rust the cutting blade.
  • The equipment being used should be in good condition and must be clean, free of dust for perfect results.
  • It should be kept in mind that light to medium pressure must be applied to the diamond saw blade. Increased pressure leads to overloading and overheating of the blade.

USER GUIDE/THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:

  • Best results from these lapidary polishing laps for faceting are obtained when you put the least pressure while polishing valuable gemstones such as Emerald, Quartz, Jade, Garnet, etc. It should be such that constant contact is maintained. High pressure could lead to scratches and chipping away of the top polished layer.

  • You need to be aware of the type of compound of the polishing and faceting lap that will be ideal for your choice of gemstone. It varies according to the hardness and type of stone. Chromium oxide is utilized best for polishing gemstones such as Emerald, Quartz, Garnet, Jade, Beryl, Tourmaline, Peridot, Feldspar, and other similar stones. Check out our complete range for polishing laps here if you are looking for a different polishing compound.
  • It is imperative to always keep the gemstone and polishing lap clean to achieve a superior quality of shine and polish of the gemstone.
  • The room chosen for lapping should also be free of any dust to avoid even the minutest of scratches and dirt from the gemstone.
  • We suggest that the lap speed should be moderate, i.e. around 1500 RPM as high speed leads to more stock removal of the gemstone being polished.
  • The dressing of the lap should be done carefully to achieve a true plane surface as it determines the quality of the polished stone.

  • They provide the best results with water as a lubricator. It ensures a finer surface of the wheel and allows cooled sharpening, during the cutting process of the gemstone.

ADVANTAGES OVER OTHER LAPIDARY WHEELS:

  • The quality of lapidary diamond wheels conforms to the grinding and polishing needs for gemstones, which provides efficient and effective results.
  • Our abrasive diamond wheels are priced aggressively and usually last more than other wheels available in the market that, in some cases, are priced more than double, as per the feedback from our customers. As a result, the processing cost of gemstones is significantly reduced.
  • The structure of our diamond grinding wheels includes light-weight plastic (bakelite) hubs that reduce vibration on higher RPM. This allows you to work continuously and uninterrupted.
  • Diamond wheels have higher thermal conductivity compared to conventional lapidary grinding wheels.
  • Proper usage of these diamond wheels eliminates the possibility of exposing the gemstone to flat spots, scratches, or sharp edges.
  • In contrast to conventional lapidary grinding wheels, these super-abrasive diamond wheels have high-quality wear resistance to abrasion and do not wear away or deteriorate faster.
  • You will be relieved of the hustle of dressing grinding wheels to maintain a flat grinding surface, as they do not require any.
  • Throughout the grinding/cabbing process, the wheels run smoothly and deliver a true-running surface.
  • They are not impacted by external factors such as weather.
  • Owing to the advantage that they have extreme power of retaining grains during grinding, these diamond grinding wheels have a prolonged lifetime.
  • The sharpness of the abrasive wheels ensures a high stock material removal rate, thereby reducing the number of cycles for fine cutting and grinding.
  • They extend precise and ultra-edge cutting advantage to the process of grinding and polishing the gemstones while increasing your productivity.

  • Width - 1”, 1½”, 2”
  • Grit size - #20, #40, #60, #80, #100, #180, #260, #360, #600
  • Arbor size - 1” (with reducers for ½”, ⅝” or ¾”)
  • Bond Type - Electroplated

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND FOR DIAMOND WHEELS:

  • Lower grit diamond wheels are more aggressive and offer a high removal rate while cutting or grinding your stone. They are usually preferred when you want to cut your stones rapidly. On the other hand, finer grits are preferred for precise cutting and grinding process. We advise selecting the right grit size based on how expensive the stone is and how fast you want to grind. For expensive stones, we suggest selecting a finer grit to avoid excessive wastage.
  • Our diamond wheels generally fall under the more “aggressive” side. So, when in doubt between two grit sizes, we would advise you to go for the finer option.
  • These diamond wheels are usually installed vertically on a shaft in a lapidary machine. For accurate and balanced running, please ensure that the shaft runs true and there is no wobbling.
  • The spindle speed of the wheels should be ideally between 1500 - 3000 RPM.
  • As the wheel grinds through the stone, a liquid lubricator such as water or oil is used to remove the chips of the gemstone being cut. Water also works to prevent the stone and wheel from overheating.

SHIPPING INFORMATION:

  • Time for shipping varies depending on the shipping region but usually, it takes a maximum of 5-7 business days to be delivered anywhere in the world, once it’s dispatched.
  • The shipping of our lapidary diamond grinding wheel is insured.
